Better conviction rates for abusers

One barrier that prevents domestic abuse victims from coming forward is that there are low conviction rates for abusers, particularly sexual abuse. Improving the conviction process and increasing the number of abusers who are punished would show victims that their abusers would be punished for their crimes.

Why the contribution is important

Going to the police and potentially facing an abuser in court can feel overwhelming. Some victims choose not to go through with it due to a feeling that nothing will happen anyway, so why go through the hassle and trauma? Supporting abuse victims means ensuring their abusers don't get away with it.
